Here’s a quick video of some of my kayak surfing this past Friday afternoon. Earlier my wind-surfing neighbor, David, texted to let me know the forecast called for waves out of the south, which meant we would have big waves on the NW side of the Big Pond. We headed to Door County’s Whitefish Bay where waves were easily 6+ feet and building by the time we arrived. I paddled my Liquid Logic XP10, a whitewater kayak that I find uniquely suited to Great Lakes surfing. Because of the steepness and tight spacing of the waves, a sea kayak simply would not have worked on this day at this place, no matter who was paddling it.

How close was he exactly?
