After Team River Runner’s recent multi-day trip on the Main Salmon River, some of us took advantage of a bonus day on the Payette. Big thanks to TRR’s Boise chapter coordinator Bob Tracy and his fellow Boise, Idaho volunteers for hosting us that day.

Here are descriptions of this section of the Payette found on the Interwebs: “This section is the proving grounds for many types of watercraft. The put-in at Banks, ideally situated at the confluence of the North and South forks of the Payette, is the hub of river running in the area. This Class III stretch is ideal for novices and intermediates. The drops are generally easy to negotiate, straightforward and the surfing can be excellent. Trips on the Main Payette are perfect for the whole family with most of the rapids in the fun class II range but also having three class III rapids to get the excitement up. The trip is also perfect in that two of the biggest and most exciting sections of whitewater come right at the end so the trip builds all the way towards an exciting conclusion.”
